Courtiers & Costermongers: Consorts & Songs of 17th-c. London

Celebrate 20 years of Salt with a tour of 17th-century London’s taverns, markets and well-appointed homes. We’ll perform music for the consort-of-six, a favored ensemble during Elizabeth I’s reign. Our program include virtuosic settings from Thomas Morley’s First Booke of Consort Lessons and the Cambridge Consort Books; a generous helping of country dance tunes; and our own arrangements of broadside ballads about epic battles, lovelorn farmers, and that most perennial of all subjects...beer.
