“Easy As Lying”: Music For Shakespeare’s Birthday

8:00 p.m.
Church of The Good Shepherd
9 Russell Ave., Watertown MA

Inspired by the brilliant historically-informed Shakespeare productions that took Broadway by storm this past year, we’re happy to present a program of English music in honor of William Shakespeare. The program will include ballads and tunes that we know were performed in the Globe Theatre of Shakespeare’s day, as well as other pieces connected to Shakespeare and his circle — including Amelia Bassano, the courtier, musician, and poetess that many believe was the “dark lady” of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Interspersed with reading’s from WS’s works, it promises to be a lively concert full of tunes suitable for both the theatre and the cast party at the pub afterwards.

With Michael Barrett, tenor and lute
and Julia Cavallaro, mezzo-soprano
