Information is current as of March 2013 Standard Performance/Teaching Information I have many years' experience as a performing musician, and I would be happy to add music to your event. I strive to be professional, pleasant, punctual, and to provide the best quality music for my clients. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly. The rates below are my standard fees, but I create an individual contract for each event, to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and there is nothing left to chance. I am also happy to teach individual lessons--please see below! Weddings Since every wedding ceremony is different, I charge a flat rate of $250 for the wedding ceremony itself. This includes up to a half-hour of prelude music, the ceremony itself, and up to 10 minutes of postlude/recessional music. I am also happy to play for the cocktail hour/reception, at a rate of $75/hr. Funerals/Memorial Services My standard fee for a funeral service, either in a church or at the graveside, is $250. If you would like me to play for both a church service and a subsequent graveside service, please contact me to discuss details. Private Parties/Luncheons/Similar Events The rate varies depending on the length of the event and the nature of the performance; however, it is generally a $300 minimum. Church Services The rate varies depending on the length of the service and amount of music required; generally about $250. Studio Recording/Film Scores/Concerts Please contact me to discuss details. Pre-Event Consultation There is no charge for phone/email consultation before your event; I'm committed to making sure that you're completely satisfied with the arrangments. If you'd rather have a face-to-face meeting, I'm happy to do so; however, if I have to travel outside the Somerville/Cambridge area in order to meet with you, I may charge an additional fee to offset the travel time and expenses. Travel/Lodging Fees If the venue of the performance is more than 20 miles (one way) from my home in Somerville, MA, I generally charge travel fees commensurate with the travel time and distance required--please contact me for details. If I am required to stay overnight, the client is generally responsible for arranging and paying for accomodations. Repertoire/Special
Requests
I'm happy to choose the music for your event, and I'm also happy to take requests. If you have a specific tune or tunes that you want for your event, please let me know, and I will be happy to accomodate you if I can. I do ask that all special requests be made no later than two weeks before the event, so that I have time to arrange/learn a piece if it's not already part of my repertoire. I will always do my best to accomodate all requests, of course, but I can't guarantee performance of any pieces requested less that two weeks prior. Additional
Musicians
I often perform with other musicians and I am happy to accomodate clients who want a duo, trio, or more of an "Irish session" feel. Options for other instruments include guitar, fiddle, harp, and cello--please give me a call for pricing and availability (varies depending on the performance). Private Lessons I am available to teach pipes, Irish flute, and tin whistle one-on-one; the rate varies depending on whether the student is an adult or a child, how long the lessons are (half hour or full hour), and whether the student comes to my studio or I travel to him/her. Please get in touch if you're interested in lessons! |

Reviews From Past Clients:
Dan played at my beloved husbands memorial service. He was amazing. Professional and compassionate as well. I gave him the chance to put his own music together; I had only 2 requests and he filled them expertly and with grace. I will be hiring him again sometime in the future. He is a very talented and pleasant individual. When he arrived he was very nicely dressed and ready to go. I didn't have to spend any time with him--I was a mess and Dan just got to work. God bless him and his business. May he never want for another gig! -Val P, 2/10/2013 Daniel
was beyond fantastic. I hired him to play a couple of songs at our
wedding ceremony and then during the cocktail hour as a gift for the
groom, but I wasn't sure about music selection - Daniel very patiently
answered all of my questions and offered suggestions based on what
I thought we wanted. In the end everything turned out beautifully
and our guests LOVED him. The pipes made our day just that much more
special and memorable. Plus, he is an amazing talent and very reasonably
priced. I wish I had another event in the works to hire him for! Dan was amazing. His rendition of Amazing Grace at the wedding Mass was the most moving I have ever heard. He is an extraordinary musician. He brought our Celtic heritage to life at my daughter's wedding. Raglan Road, March of the King of Laoise, Lament for Limerick, She Moves Through the Fair and so many others were played with poetry and passion. I recommend him to anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty and exhilaration of traditional Irish music played on the Irish pipes.Dan has a gift and we are all so lucky that he shares it. -Steve C, 6/16/2012 Dan showed up to our wedding in the middle of a blizzard!! He risked life and limb to make it to our ceremony. He arrived with class and grace. His talent is endless- our guests were amazed by the uilleann pipe music. It set the mood for our whole wedding day. Through all of the wedding planning he was a great support and was very flexible with anything we requested. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars on everything because he was THAT GOOD. I would recommend him to anyone anywhere anytime. He is a fabulous musician who pays close attention to his audience. -Merri J, 1/21/2012 Dear Dan, thank you so much for playing the pipes for the cocktail hour of our wedding. As we may have mentioned, we traveled to NW Ireland for our honeymoon, and we didn't hear a better piper. Our friends and family raved about your music...You are very talented and professional, and we'll happily reccomend you to anyone looking for an uilleann piper. Thanks again! -Sarah & Mike W, 8/11/2011 The event was the burial of my Mother a week after the actual funeral Mass. Other than a prayer by the Priest we had nothing to add to the ceremony to pay tribute to her. Having Daniel play added what my family needed. He drove a little over 3 hours one way to be there and he did a wonderful job. He was completely professional and was even early to make sure he was set up properly. He chose songs that were appropriate and played the one we requested perfectly. I would highly recommend him to a friend. - Sarah M, 3/10/2012 I hired Daniel as a surprise for my cousin's wedding. I wanted him to be a surprise not only for the groom, but all of the guests. Daniel was very accommodating and he was a HUGE hit! The guests and groom were surprised and blown away. He was great! -Julie W, 5/14/2011 Dan was amazing. My mom had passed away and this was a very difficult time for my family. Dan made things easy for me, he worked with me to find the appropriate music. He was extremely helpful and accomodating. Furthermore, his music is incredible and it added to the beautiful trubute to my mom. I hope to use him again in a more uplifting event. -Sam F, 3/7/2011 We were absolutely thrilled with Dan. We used him for my mom's birthday party and he was a hit. He is not only talented; he is professional, reliable and flexible. As an event planner, I understand the importance of that combination. I highly recommend him! -Tara E, 10/17/2010 We hired Daniel to play uilleann pipes during the cocktail reception of our wedding. Being from Ireland, I had high expectations for a piper and Daniel surpassed them all. We had left the music selection to Daniel, and he made the perfect choices. We got several comments from guests at the wedding about how good Daniel was. We would highly recommend Daniel to anyone else looking for a very talented uilleann piper. -Donal D, 7/16/2010 I am thrilled to have the oppportunity to share how wonderful Daniel Meyers was at our recent event. Daniel played at the cocktail hour at my brother's wedding. He was prompt, professional and very approachable. The guests all enjoyed Daniel's music and many musicians (wedding guests) enjoyed speaking to him as well. I would highly recommend Daniel Meyers to add a special touch of class to any event. -Linda J, 9/19/2010 I would highly recommend Daniel to anyone looking for great Irish tunes. He not only played the pipes but also a variety of tin whistles. He finished with two particular requests: The Marines Hymn and The Parting Glass (which he sang). Outstanding! -Jerry M, 3/20/2010 Daniel is a phenomenal player, his knowledge of the instruments exceptional. The pipes, IMO, are absolutely beautiful when played well and if not, can be a trip to Dante's Inferno. Daniel's command of this intricate instrument is exceptional. First experience with the uilleann pipes ( Irish ) for me & this congregation, as well as tin whistle and low whistle. He is a professional musician and a wonderful person to be with and work in the context of a church service, not always easy. The feedback from the congregation has been the same. His rapport with people just as wonderful in explaining the pipes to them afterwards. -Randall R, 9/5/2010 Dan was a real blessing to our family event. Even those who had spent a lot of time in Ireland were impressed with his abilities, professionalism and knowledge of the uilleann pipes. Dan has a diverse repertiore of songs that delighted our guests. It was a bit of Galway on the Southcoast of Massachusetts. -Brian S, 11/21/2009 Daniel is an extremely talented performer. I received many compliments concerning his playing from guests. He was dressed perfectly for the occasion and has an outgoing, friendly personality. I would highly recommend him to others seeking an outstanding, professional musician. -John M, 9/21/2010 I booked Dan for my best friend's wedding. He was prompt and professional, and was able to handle all of my friend's last minute requests with ease. His playing was great, and fit perfectly with the rustic, outdoor setting. Just beautiful! I would absolutely recommend Dan to anyone! -Lena S, 10/11/2009 |
